Powhiri

Today we had the school Powhiri. I thought it was great and really enjoyed having it at the Marae. I was impressed at how well most of you coped doing the hongi with our buddy classes.

What did you think? Was it your first powhiri?

  1. I think it was pretty awesome doing a Powhiri for the first time, and also going to the Marai for the first time. I'm looking forward to doing it again.

    1. That's good! Your lucky you signed up for two! :) I'm singing up for Orchestra and about 4 or 5 other things, but I would have loved to do Kapa Haka, but I don't think I'm pretty good at it, especially prounoucing Maori words.

  5. I can't wait to go back to the Marae and welcome the Yr 7 students next year! It was REALLY cool, looking at the Yr 8's performing and doing the haka. I loved learning how to sing Maori songs that I forgot over the holidays... It really refreshed my mind! I hope other Yr 7's found it fascinating too!
